From Hesitation to Confidence: Rebuilding Market Trust For An Emerging Markets Renewables Issuer

Our client, an emerging market renewable energy company, was grappling with sinking market confidence and investor unrest amid concerns over limited disclosure. Management’s drive for transparency, while well-intentioned, was not turning sentiment around. We were brought in to improve market perception and gain investor support for the management team’s transformation agenda.

To understand the lie of the land, we assessed internal engagement structures across strategy, operations, finance, and corporate communications. Finding clear weaknesses in information flow, we set up an internal communication matrix to ensure alignment. The next task was building a bridge between corporate strategy and the equity story. To do that, we crafted a framework to identify core themes and used storytelling techniques—backed by solid facts and data—to create critical messages for management to continually reinforce. Internal financial models, an investor outreach plan, and internal IR-driven reporting to the executive committee and board completed the strategy.

Led by Faisal Kanth, our team adopted a highly transparent, evidence-based approach to equity storytelling. Historical scenarios helped assuage doubts around execution capabilities, while concrete examples provided the context that was missing in past disclosures and made the messages much more accessible and credible. We also equipped IR, strategy, and finance teams with a clear framework for articulating performance. Consistency promotes understanding, and having clear messaging guardrails ensured collective buy-in to the approach.
